CAMP FACILITIES: Rising Star is all about musical theatre. Each group (we have 2 age groups) does a production.

This Summer Little Stars, 5 - 7 year olds, will do The Music Man Revue.

Rising Stars, the 8 - 16 year olds, will do The Sound of Music, a full production.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Campers arrive at 9 AM the younger group stays until 1 and the older group stays until 3. We spend our time singing, learning songs, learning dances, working on lines and blocking, working on acting, and creating a special show for the end of our Camp session. Every camper has a chance to show their special talent.

CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
Session 1 - Little Stars (ages 5 - 7) The Wizard of Oz Revue - July 7 - 19, Daily 9 - 1. Final day is our presentation at 2:00 PM, $395.

Session 2 - Rising Stars (ages 8 - 16) The Sound of Music (complete show) July 28 - Aug. 10, 9 - 3 Monday - Friday and there will be 3 shows at the end of the 2 weeks, $625.

CAMP FACILITIES: Camp is held in the Auditorium with access to an outdoor playground.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Title: Theater Camp: Perfecting Your Audition
Event Info: Spend the week exploring and building your audition techniques. Learn how to choose a monologue and fine tune it; audition dress and impression; knowing yourself and characters you fit; cold reading and scene study for callbacks. This camp will culminate in a mock audition process with feedback from working actors and directors!

CAMP FACILITIES: We have 20 modern open air cabins, large dining hall, outdoor basketball, tennis courts and large ball field. Being on an island, our site is right on the beach. We have an amphitheater for campfires and an amazing climbing wall and high-ropes facility.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp del Corazon is an ACA accredited camp that serves children with heart disease. Camp del Corazon (Camp of the Heart) was founded in 1995 by a UCLA nurse and doctor who wanted to provide a new kind of healing to their pediatric cardiac patients. Today the camp serves over 400 children a summer.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: We offer year-round retreats for congenital heart patients between 18 and 24 years old on the mainland. This program is called the Progressive Adult Cardiac Experience (PACE). This program is aimed at developing the practical and leadership skills that young adults with heart disease will need as they transition into their adult lives. This program often involves a weekend of camping, teambuilding games and workshops.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Camp del Corazon is free for our campers.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: In the Fall (October) we host a Family Festival for our camp community in the Los Angeles area so that families can meet our fabulous volunteer staff as well as other camper families.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: California Theatre Center's Core Conservatory is a full-day theatre experience for students with or without prior theatre training. Students work hands-on with CTC's professional teaching artists in acting, movement and voice classes. All students are cast in a play that is performed for the public on the final two days. In this process-based Conservatory, the students also design and build all props, sets, costumes, tickets and programs as they engage in and learn about every aspect of live theatre. Includes 4 tickets to Summer Rep, CTC's professional repertory season of plays.

Make A Movie Camp
A different film is made each week.
Students will write and star in their own original short film.
We will guide them as they take their thoughts and ideas to the page, and from the page to the screen. This is a one-of-a-kind experience, and we are thrilled to be able to to see what ideas our students come up with and help make it a reality on screen!

CAMP FACILITIES: Our 7,500 sq. ft facility houses two professional stages (65-seat and 99-seat), rehearsal and classroom space, offices, and a large lobby gallery. Nestled between a cafe, salon, retail shops, and a popular wine bar, Edgemar Center for the Arts is the anchor of the Edgemar complex on Main Street in Santa Monica. The interior courtyard provides a hub of activity and a convergence of artists, businesses, residents, and visitors to this beachside destination. The complex is a stop on the tour of local gems designed by architect Frank Gehry. The Los Angeles region has a wealth of small "black box" theatres, many of them housed in older structures. Edgemar Center for the Arts theatre’s are unique in size and height and are designed for the challenges of modern stage productions. The Westside, in particular, has only a handful of theatres and Edgemar Center for the Arts stands alone as the only such center in its class.

Fairytales & Superheroes for Boys & Girls Acting Camp
Ages 4-6
Have you ever wanted to be a superhero or a magical princess from a fairytale?
In this class we will choose our favorite characters from well-known literature like Cinderella, Rapunzel, Batman and Spiderman. There will be drama games, music and dance, as we work together to create our very own superhero and fairytale mini play!

CAMP FACILITIES: Our huge facility the "Digital Gym" boasts state of the art equipment, a production studio with a green screen, multiple classrooms with iMacs and projectors, and a 49-seat theatre.

CAMP FACILITIES: Skylake's secret to success is its small cabin groups. "Boys' camp" and "Girl's Camp" each with their own 16 rustic cabins is where the Skylake spirit is born. The 6500 square foot lodge, dining hall and lakeside porch is a center of activity. Tennis courts, sand volleyball, climbing wall, campfire circle, private docks on Bass Lake all provide a complete camp experience.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Campers that have completed the 9th grade are eligible to apply for the Skylake "Camper In Leadership Training Program." Successful completion of this program may lead to invitation to return for the CILT II summer.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Skylake operates a Family Camp for a number of weeks prior to the children' camp sessions and again in the fall after children' camp concludes.

CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
Skylake sessions run a minimum of two weeks. Sessions normally commence in the middle of June and conclude in the middle of August

CAMP FACILITIES: Mariposa Day Camp, located in Altadena, offers themed weeks with several different emphases for girls to choose from. Girls participate in new and traditional Girl Scouts activities while making new friends, developing self-esteem and making lasting memories. Introducing new and exciting activities this summer such as a brand new gaga court, low ropes and team building activities plus kids kitchen which gives each girl the opportunity to prepare a fun and different snack each week. The themes for each week provide additional activities and enjoyment for the campers. All day camps include daily snacks, a camp souvenir, any badges earned, and a 4X6 camp group photo. Campers will work with a visiting artist on their masterpieces. On Friday the Camp Mariposa Gallery will be open for parents to see their child’s artwork. Brownies will earn their Painter badge, Juniors will earn their Drawing badge, and Cadettes will complete steps 3, 4, and 5 of their Book Artist badge.

Fashion Forward

It is Fashion Week at Camp Mariposa! Campers will learn the basics of fashion design, sewing, and jewelry making as they create their own haute couture. Girls will meet a fashion industry professional and show off their designs at a special Friday fashion show. Brownies will earn their Inventor badge, Juniors will earn their Product Designer badge, and Cadettes will earn steps 1, 2, 4, and 5 of their Entrepreneur badge.

Let’s journey back in time to when Laura Ingalls Wilder was a young girl. Campers will learn all about life on the prairie through hands on activities like making butter, sewing, and playing games from the past. Girls will also learn about their local government while we get ready to celebrate Independence Day. Friday will feature a special country fair for all campers! Brownies will earn their Celebrating Community badge, Juniors will earn their Citizen badge, and Cadettes will earn their Finding Common Ground badge. Girls entering the 4 grade and up are invited to join us for an extended day at camp that includes dinner, square dancing, and an old fashion campfire.

Literally Fun

Choose your own adventure and tell your story! We will dive into the wide world of our imaginations, exploring our favorite books, and writing our own stories. Girls will learn all about different ways to tell their story, from comic books to short stories. We will even be joined by a special guest author! S.T.E.A.M Power! (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math)

Making a miniature robot, launching film canister rockets, and mixing up a batch of slime are just a few of the fun things we have planned for this week of scientific discovery. STEAM will come alive as we explore all of these subjects through hands on experiments and demonstrations. Brownies will learn all about bubbles, slime, and static electricity while they also earn their Home Scientist badge. Juniors and Cadettes will design their own video games while earning the Videogame Designer patch. Full STEAM ahead!

Lions, Tigers, and Girl Scouts, Oh my!

Welcome to the Jungle! This week of camp is all about our furry, scaly, and slimy friends who call the jungle home. Campers will learn about animals and ecosystems while brushing up on the outdoor skills they need to visit our furry friends in their natural habitats. We will even have a few special visitors from the animal kingdom! Brownies will earn their Hiker badge, Juniors will earn steps 1, 2, 3, and 4 of their Camper badge, and Cadettes will earn parts 1, 2, 3, and 4 of their Trailblazer badge.

Are you a born performer or is directing more your style? Join us as we explore life on the stage and screen. Girls will learn about writing a screenplay, honing their acting skills through improvisation games, and the art of movie make-up. Can you discover who stole the cookies from the cookie jar? Sharpen your detective skills as we learn about the science behind forensics on our quest to unravel the mystery of the missing cookies! CAMP FACILITIES: Located underneathe the main stage at the Golden Bough, SoDA rehearses and performs in the Circle Theatre as well as on stage of the Golden Bough. Both locations are in the same facility with fully equipped performance stage, theatrical lighting, and seating for up to 300 - 80 patrons.

Our camps are focused on the wide variety of interests or our campers. Campers are encouraged to participate in more than one camps over the course of the summer.

Play Production Camp - Begins June 20. There are feature parts for everyone, with many opportunities to share individual talents. Groovy! celebrates the hippies and flower children of the 1960’s through an adventure of friends throwing a free Music, Beads and Flowers Celebration. The cost of each camp session (2 weeks) is $500 for grades K-6. The cost for one week only is $300. We offer children attending all four weeks a $100 discount, reducing the total cost to $900, and a second child/sibling discount of $50 per session.

The tuition includes all camp field trips, a camp T-shirt and two snacks per day. There is an additional fee of $150 per two-week session for our 7th and 8th grade Habonim campers, to cover the cost of special activities (like surfing and scuba diving). CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The seed of Sessions Songwriting and Music sprung to life in 2007 when its founder, Lauren Bruns, was discussing with a good friend and mother of two that there was a gaping hole in many of the musical programs offered in Los Angeles. Not one school was offering a songwriting component in which kids could express themselves through words and music simultaneously.

Lauren knew firsthand how songwriting benefited her life as a young adult and set out on a mission to create an easy-to-follow curriculum that inspired kids of all musical levels to create and express themselves through original lyrics and music. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: LVCC MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP was born of a passion for helping children discover confidence and learn life skills in the process of creating Musical Theatre. We know that many valuable life skills can be developed in the process of creating ART, especially when the creation process takes place with collaboration.

LVCCMTW is a place where the individual is nurtured, cared about and supported. We believe in positivity and unique expression. We have a "zero-tolerance" policy on negativity. This camp is a place where loving, encouraging, creativity takes place and character building elements are valued and taught. We believe that we are helping to "BUILD BETTER HUMANS THROUGH MUSICAL THEATRE" by focusing on collaboration, acceptance,creativity, respect, friendship, and individual expression. We build these elements into everything we do.

During each one-week session, 120 Campers are divided, by age, into seven groups: Preschool - High School.
Each group spends the week from 9-3 each day attending sessions in ACTING, DANCE, MUSIC, STAGECRAFT and THEATRE ARTS,creating a unique, original Musical Theatre Production for performance at the Friday Night Showcase.

Each age group is joined by trained, experienced, caring counselors who accompany them throughout their day. We believe in personal attention to each camper, therefore we keep our camper to counselor ratio very small. In our preschool 1/2 day program, our ratio is 3 campers to one counselor. This ratio increases only slightly with each age group. Our maximum ratio is in the 9th-10th grade Leadership Training program, where the ratio is only 6:1. We believe that adhering strictly to this ratio allows each camper maximum support for their individual creative expression and gives our staff an opportunity to relate to every camper individually.

Our caring instructors are skilled, educated, and experienced in their craft and have a passion for helping kids discover their skills, talents and self confidence in each of the respective elements of Musical Theatre creation.

Stagecraft: Campers will make (or assist in making) their own sets, props and costumes, using age-level based artistic expression, creative and technical skills.

Dance: Campers will be taught a dance and will learn dance terms and basic dance moves. They will learn or improve their ability to be comfortable with dance and with moving their bodies.

Acting: campers will learn and rehearse their scene for the showcase. As age/ability increases, campers also participate in writing their own lines, some of the scene, or the whole scene.

Music: campers learn the song for their performance. They will focus on basic musical terms and concepts. As age/ability increases, campers participate in solo and small group singing, understanding and performing harmony and lyric writing/music composition skills.

Theatre Arts: Campers gain understanding of the concepts and ideas needed to fully comprehend their scene/character for the performance showcase. As age/ability increases, campers participate in character development, exploration of personal strengths/goals, collaborative creation process.

Preschool/Kinder students attend a 1/2 day camp where some of these classes are combined. All other campers attend full day camp.

9th/10th grade campers also attend child development class and leadership training and function as an instructor assistant for some of the day as part of our Leadership Training Certification Program.

All of our staff are highly trained in positive interaction skills and have a passion for children and for the arts.
